8/9 Parent Meeting Materials

We had a parent meeting after worship back on August 9. For those who missed it please click here to download all the shared materials, as well as an audio recording of the meeting.

One important thing that was announced is that everyone needs to fill out new permission to treat forms. You can find those linked above.

I also shared a parent questionnaire that I’d love for parents to fill out. The questionnaire is pertaining to things discussed at the meeting. Click here to access.

Fall Wednesdays

On Wednesday nights in the Fall we’ll be bringing back small groups with our focus being on cultivating three different kinds of key relationships: Friends, Mentors, and Proteges. To ensure we have time for small group discussion LYF will begin at exactly 6:45. BYO dinner and open gym will begin at 5:35 and end at 6:35.July Dates and Details

Student Leadership Team

Starting this year we will be annually resetting our student leadership team. This means students will have to apply each year to join at the team. Anyone interested in applying to be on the student leadership team for the upcoming school year can apply by visiting the links hub linked at the top of this page.

What exactly is a student leader? Great question! Student leaders use their time and their gifts to help LYF grow into a community where students are known, loved, and becoming more like Jesus. Student leaders serve in a variety of ways including, but not limited to: leading worship, teaching class, leading prayers, leading games, helping with event and program planning, welcoming new students, and making an aspect of LYF their personal responsibility (their baby).

September

  • 9/6 - Devo: 5:30-8:00pm. Dinner provided. Host needed. A time for students to connect with God and one another.

  • 9/9: Roots: A monthly whole church gathering on Wednesday nights during the school year. Dinner is served at 6:00. Worship, discussion groups, and testimonies begin at 6:45. The youth group forgoes our normal Wednesday gatherings in order to participate in Roots.

  • 9/13: Leader Night: For members of the LYF student leadership team and all adult leaders. From 4:30-7:30. Dinner is provided. Will include time for both LYF and Adult leaders to work on projects relating to their ministry roles. Will also include shared dinner, worship, and devotional.

  • 9/20: Jesus Practice: We will continue using Jesus Practice as an opportunity to love and serve our neighbors. This Fall there will be one Jesus Practice each month, and for each Jesus Practice we will be putting on an event for our neighbors in the Sutherland Flatts apartments behind the Dollar General on Sutherland Avenue. Our first cookout back on 8/23 was a great time. We got to serve and make connections with our neighbors, and I look forward to seeing the fruit that God brings out of this.

  • 9/27: Family Picnic at Lakeshore Park: 5:30-7:30 at the TVA Pavilion. This is the pavilion closest to the main/largest playground at Lakeshore Park. Open for families of all ages to bring their own dinner and enjoy time together at the park. There’s a playground for the younger kiddos, picnic tables at the pavilion for card/board games, and several open fields for all to play in as well. Bring whatever fun game/activity you want to share with your church family.
