January Highlights
LYF’s January got off to a great start before the snow storm forced us to cancel/postpone multiple events/activities. We had a ton of fun laughing and playing games together at our late night party back on the 5th. To the right you can see some funny pictures of students trying to hide from a grog. If you don’t know what a grog is they’d be happy to tell you! We also had our first “Jesus Practice” at the home of Brad and Ashley White. Big thanks to them for hosting and feeding us! The idea behind “Jesus Practice” is quite simple: Let’s learn and practice some of the habits of Jesus so that we might become more like him. This semester is focused on growing in the practice of prayer. So far we’ve learned to start by praying honestly, going to God with whatever is on our hearts/minds. To quote C.S. Lewis “I must lay before him what is actually in me, not what ought to be in me.” At Jesus practice we gather, fellowship, eat, worship, learn, practice, and debrief our experience in small groups. I look forward to seeing how God uses these nights to bring forth Kingdom Fruit and Christlikeness in the hearts and lives of our students.

2/7- LYFT (normal youth group)
2/14 - 4 for 30: 30 minutes to eat, serve, play, and worship.
2/21 - Coffee House Karoake/Open Mic.
2/28 - Student-Led Wednesday
2/2: Main Event: We’ll be at Main Event Friday 2/2 from 7-11. Cost is $30 which includes unlimited bowling/laser tag/ropes course, a $10 arcade gaming card, two slices of pizza, and a drink with unlimited refills. Registration deadline 1/28.
2/4: Jesus Practice @ the Milam’s: We’ll gather to eat, fellowship, worship, and continue to learn about and practice prayer. 5:30-8:00. Register online so the Milam’s know how much food to provide.
2/11: Jesus Practice @ the Martin’s: Due to the Superbowl, we’ll have Jesus practice immediately after the late worship service until around 2:30. The Martin’s live right across from the church building, so we’ll plan on walking across Kingston Pike after worship. Register online so the Martin’s know how much food to provide.
2/16-18: Winterfest: All deadlines have passed. Attendees can click here for trip details.
2/25: Solid Rock Talent Show: 5:00 in the gym. Register online to perform.
