April Recap
April was a great month for LYF! We had our Spring Retreat at the Cades Cove Campground in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Students that were williing to brave the cold learned about 1 Timothy 4:12 and what it means to set an example in conduct, speech, faith, love, and purity. We also had a beautiful afternoon in Cades Cove sightseeing (including seeing a few black bears). LYF also put together candy bags to encourage local teachers during testing weeks, and we continued to learn about prayer during our Jesus Practices. My highlight of the month was seeing Philip Payton put on Christ in baptism this past Sunday morning. Be praying for and encouraging Philip as he begins his walk with the Lord. This newsletter is also being written a couple days before our “One Awesome Celebration” event where we invite Laurel’s 4th and 5th graders to join LYF for a night of food, fun, and worship. We’re looking forward to welcoming those 5th graders into our youth group starting at the beginning of this Summer.

5/5 - Graduation Sunday: At 5:30 in the gym we’ll have a dinner to honor and bless our graduating seniors. Come have dinner, support our graduates and enjoy the annual graduate slideshow!
5/8 - Camp LYF Registration Deadline! Click here for details about Camp LYF
5/19 - LYF 101: Orientation for the parents of new 6th graders. Will be after the late worship service and lunch will be provided. After lunch the interns will lead the students in games while Trey meets with the parents.
5/19 - Impact Registration Deadlines: What’s Impact? Click here to access their website for more information. Do not register through them. Use our registration link, and I (Trey) will register our group.
5/22 - Summer Kickoff Party: Starting at 5:30pm in the courtyard. We’ll grill burgers and hot dogs, play games, introduce our summer theme, and pass out our Summer T-shirts.
5/24-27 - Camp LYF! Click here for details about Camp LYF
5/31 - Tubing in Townsend: We’ll meet at Laurel at 9:00am to head up to Townsend and Tube with River Rat. The cost is $20 per person. After we’re done tubing we’ll have a cookout lunch together at Ron and Missy Clark’s Townsend home. We should be back by around 5:00pm. The registration deadline will be Wednesday 5/29. I’ll send out links to parents to fill out digital waivers after buying our tickets.
